I would come back for the mussels and crab cake and would certainly suggest that others try those items and enjoy the view.
The food and atmosphere here are pretty good...the waterfront view of the West River is nice and the dining area is pretty nice, though if it gets busy in there it can be a bit noisy.
Pricing is a bit on the high side here. Many of the entrees are closer to the $30 mark, but they do have a few that are under $20. Expect to pay at least $50 or more for 2 people when coming here for dinner. If a couple gets drinks, appetizer, soups, and entrees, you could hit the $100 mark very easily.
I cannot emphasize enough just how much better this place is since the new ownership took over. Great views, and excellent seafood dishes. I have been very pleased the several times I've been since the ownership changed. Fair warning, it does get pretty busy at peak hours.
The complimentary bread they serve was very tasty - crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. It went perfectly with the mussels we ordered - would definitely recommend those.
In summary, the food is good but given the prices, it's more of a "once in a while" place to go for the average diner.
My crabcake had good flavor but it seemed like it didn't get a chance to cook all the way through (it was not firm throughout). The veggies were steamed baby carrots and green beans which were soft and very boring. Would've definitely preferred roasted veggies. The baked potato came with sour cream and nothing else...if you order this maybe ask them to add butter, cheese, green onion...something for flavor!
Our waitress, Becky, was one of those serving our table and the large party. She was still a real trooper and took great care of us. I did my best to tip her well for all that she did.
My husband's grandmother loves this restaurant so we took her out and, while the service was friendly and the view of the water was good, the food left me mostly underwhelmed.
Me and my wife were eating here for dinner the other night, food was good service was good. But when we were being seated a "manager" named Norma sat us. From the very get go she was very rude and short. By the end of our meal she could be heard yelling and cussing through the restaurant. I've never heard such nasty language and harsh actions used towards such a young group of kids who this is probably their first job. Will not being visiting again. Will tell the rest of my family friends of coworkers he same. One bad apple ruins the bunch.
The calamari appetizer is good; large rings that are battered, subtly seasoned, and deep fried to a nice golden brown. They taste very good and are served with a warm marinara sauce.
The menu is focused on seafood but does offer some chicken, red meat, and pasta dishes. Soups are limited - I only noticed 2 crab soups and gazpacho (which really just seems like crushed tomatoes with cucumber pieces and seasonings) on the menu.
The various entrees all look good; be sure to ask about the daily specials as there always seems to be something different on special. I've had something different each time I've been here and haven't been let down. The only issue we've ever had was with a salmon dish that initially came out undercooked...they just threw it back on the grill and then it came out burnt.
All in all, it was still a good experience, good food, great views of the water and friendly staff. I'd still consider returning.
I was also a little surprised at the prices. They seemed a little high compared to other comparable restaurants. Dinner for 4, including desserts and no booze still came to $160 (without the tip). I can eat at a Japanese steakhouse or similar seafood restaurant and still end up paying between $100 and $120 for 4 people. I know that market prices for seafood can be high but since everything was in season and market prices have been relatively low for the last 2 years, due to higher fish, oyster and crab populations, it just seemed a little steep.
The food was good but nothing out of the ordinary for a seafood restaurant. They were understaffed for a weekend dinner rush. All of the wait staff were struggling to keep up with a large party that kind of sucked the oxygen out of the room.
The Maryland crab soup looked and tasted like it had canned or frozen veggies in it. That's fine I guess, I was just expecting more based on the reviews and prime location.
